Just a perfect friend… Sun Princess!

Some friendships surpass distance.This post is dedicated to G.L.
The flat was empty and a farewell party had been thrown for her closest friends. She was leaving for HK the next day. To follow love, to join her partner.
In the days preceding her departure I felt lonely and asked myself whether this friendship would last.
HK greeted her with noise, traffic, exotic colours and smells, a foreign language and the fear of getting lost among the crowds. There were intelligible signs and a deep longing for ‘home’.
On her  first day at work I received a text ‘the speak Mandarin and laugh! They don’t understand anything!’Through her worlds I felt tears.
Then the magic happened.
HK embraced her by bringing her a beautiful wedding, a beloved daughter and the warmth of ‘the Cing Ciong Ciangs, my affectionate nickname for her new beautiful slanted eye friends. There was a new apartment on the bay where the air is clear and her daughter could thrive.

Ci sono amicizie che vanno oltre le distanze. Questo post e’ dedicato a G.L’ appartamento era stato svuotato, le amiche piu’ care salutate con una piccola festa d’ addio. Sarebbe partita il giorno dopo per Hong Kong, per amore, per  raggiungere il suo compagno!

Nei giorni che precedettero la  partenza mi sentii spaiata, chiedendomi se e quanto la nostra amicizia sarebbe continuata a tale distanza.

Hong Kong l’ accolse con il rumore, il traffico congestionato, le cromie e gli odori  diversi, con una lingua ancora sconosciuta, con la paura di perdersi tra la folla, con i cartelli illeggibili, con la nostalgia di casa.

Il suo primo giorno di lavoro ricevetti un messaggio sul telefonino ” Parlano in mandarino e ridono, non capisco nulla”, sentivo le sue lacrime attraverso quelle parole.

I mesi passarono lenti. Imparo’ l’ inglese, arredo’ la nuova casa, addobbo’  l’ albero di Natale!

Poi  arrivo’ la magia.matrimonio gaia luglio 2013 056

Hong Kong l’ abbraccio’ e porto’ il matrimonio bellissimo, l’ arrivo della loro amata bimba, l’ affetto delle Cing Ciong Ciang (come ho soprannominato le sue amiche dagli occhi a mandorla), il nuovo appartamento sulla baia dove l’ aria è piu’ pura e dove la loro bimba puo’ crescere meglio.
